AN AWARENESS WORKSHOP ON WASTE - A RESOURCEFUL NEGLECT (WARN-15)

Centre for Waste Management, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (Deemed to be University) organized an Awareness Workshop on Waste- A Resourceful Neglect (WARN-15) on 5th August 2015 at the International Research Centre, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (Deemed to be University). Undergraduates and Research fellows of different disciplines of Engineering from Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (Deemed to be University), Rajalakshmi Engineering College, St.Joseph's College of Engineering, Mamallan Institute of Technology and Central Leather Research Institute participated in the Workshop. Dr.N.Vedaraman, Senior Technical Officer, Department of Chemical Engineering, Central Leather Research Institute delivered and invited talk on "Leather Wastes- Opportunities and Challenges". The session was followed by the "Invisible Recyclers" Campaign of the Kabadiwalla Connect, A World Economy Forum support organization. Centre for Waste Management Scientific team highlighted on the Interdisciplinary Research Prospects on Waste. Essay Writing, Collage Making, Prototype and Photography Display competitions on "Don't Waste the Waste" theme were organized in the afternoon session. First prize in essay writing was backed by Ms.Savithri,  of Rajalakshmi Engineering College and the second prize was given to Ms.Priyanka of Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (Deemed to be University) of Ecoclub. Mr.Praveen Kumar of Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (Deemed to be University) got the first place in Prototype and Photography Display competition.  The Collage Making Competition had ten participating teams and all the three prizes were won by Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (Deemed to be University) ecoclub students.
