The International Conference on Green Technology and Environmental Conservation (GTEC-2011) was organized by Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (Deemed to be University) in association with Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB), International Solid Waste Association (ISWA), National Solid Waste Association of India (NSWAI) and IEEE to provide a unique opportunity for the academic and industrial communities to address new challenges, share solutions and discuss research prospects for the future conservation. Technical topics of the conference include all areas of Green technology and Environmental Conservation.Honorable Chancellor Col. Dr.Jeppiaar and the Chief Guest of the function Dr. K.Karthikeyan, Member Secretary, TNPCB Lighted the KUTHUVILLAKKU to symbolically announce the Inauguration of the International Conference on Green Technology and Environmental Conservation (GTEC-2011). Mr.Jeff Cooper, President, ISWA; Mr.Hermann Koller, Managing Director, ISWA, Dr.Amiya Kumar Sahu, President, National Solid Waste Association of India;Dr.Muthiah Mariappan, Chairman , State Level Appraisal Committee, GoI;Dr.G.Krishnamoorthy, Professor Emeritus, Civil and Environmental Engineering Division, San Diego State University, USA and Dr.Sona Vasudevan, Professor, GeorgeTown University, USA also joined the auspicious lighting. All the dignitaries were facilitated by our honorable Chancellor.The three day International Conference on Waste Management not only served as a platform to exchange knowledge amidst experts, scientists, researchers and academicians, it has led to better thinking of Waste which may no longer be considered as Waste . Understanding the importance and applications of technologies for Recycling, Reusing and Recovering the misplaced resource has indeed been the outcome GTEC-2011
