Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (Deemed to be University) is a pioneer in engineering education established with the aim of providing quality higher education in the areas of engineering, science and technology on par with international standards. It persistently seeks and adopts innovative methods to improve the quality of higher education on a consistent basis. The campus has a cosmopolitan atmosphere with students from all corners of the globe. Experienced and learned teachers are strongly encouraged to nurture the students. Having acquired excellence in the academic part of education with all sophisticated facilities available; the University has established its footprints in the field of Research. To encourage and motivate researchers across the globe, several research centres have been initiated in the university and are progressively working towards innovation in the field of Science and technology. Environmental pollution and Aesthetic degradation is increasing in such a drastic pace which has lead to serious focus on managing the waste generated. As a part of expanding its research wing Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (Deemed to be University) with the joint initiative of the National Solid Waste Association of India (NSWAI) has established the Centre for Waste Management.

The Centre since its inception in 2011 has been involved in research leading to innovative products, developing patent liable novel ideas in Waste Management, publishing the experimental outcomes in indexed/peer reviewed journals, training graduate students, offering consultancy services and involves in several outreach activities in transferring the research findings for societal benefit.

The centre through its innovative technologies would encourage Research and Developmental activities for cleaner and greener environment and will also promote public awareness in waste segregation and management.

Mission

To provide support and information in all formats through the centre for the betterment of the environment and establish an Integrated Environmental Management System adapting the 3R concept.
