The Centre for Waste Management, Centre of Excellence for Energy Research (Bio-Energy Division), organized a one-day training and workshop focused on characterization and interpretation techniques on ATR - FT-IR spectroscopy, including data acquisition and interpretation in real-world problem scenarios. Students various institutions like Dhanalakshmi engineering college attended the event. The day began with lectures on ATR FT-IR significance of characterization, followed by guidance on plotting and analyzing data using Originpro 8.5 software across various fields. In the later session, participants engaged in hands-on training using the ATR FT-IR spectrophotometer. Certificates of participation were awarded to all attendees.

One Day Training cum Workshop on Spectrum Acquisition and Interpretation - Solid State NMR and ATR FT-IR Spectroscopy(September 14^th, 2024)   Brochure

Centre for Waste Management, Centre of Excellence for Energy Research and Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology has organized a one-day training and workshop to introduce the participants to the important characterization techniques solid-state NMR and ATR FT-IR spectroscopy - data acquisition and interpretation in the research to identify/analyse the compounds present in the newly synthesised materials. This training cum workshop was benefitted from students from various backgrounds like food technology, civil engineering, bio-technology and mechanical engineering. The topics were covered to connect the significance of the techniques for the various fields of applications as the participants were from wide domain. Graduate students and researchers from Paavai Engineering College, Namakkal National Engineering College, Kovilpatti, Sastra Deemed University, Thanjavur and our own institution participated and derived benefits from the workshop. The event started with insightful lectures on the importance of characterization, followed by a session on data plotting and analysis using Origin 8.5 software. Later, participants got hands-on experience with the ATR FT-IR spectrophotometer. All attendees received certificates to mark their accomplishment.

This training cum workshop was benefitted from the students from Kongunadu College of Engineering and Technology and Karpagam college of Engineering and our own students. The event started with lectures on importance of characterization followed by its plotting in Origin software and its analysis and interpretation in different fields. Later part was covered with hand-on Training on ATR FT-IR Spectrophotometer. All participants were provided with the certificates of participation.

Centre for Waste management, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (Deemed to be University) has organized a one day workshop on solid state NMR Spectroscopy Spectrum Acquisition and interpretation. The main objective of the training program is to provide a platform to the participants to get conceptual overview about the material characterization techniques towards the characterisation of cementitious materials and geopolymers particularly solid state NMR. It would be a unique opportunity for researchers dealing with cementitious and geopolymeric materials and related inorganic chemistry fields to update information regarding material characterisation techniques especially solid state NMR interpretation. It helps to connect the composition, structure and property of cementitious / geopolymer materials. It also helpful for the interpretation and analysis of NMR data and multiple peak fit by Lorentz and Gaussian peak functions via demonstration. Students were very much interested in acquiring knowledge on basics of solid state NMR and how to interpret for different materials. Around 12 students were benefitted from various institutions.
