Brochure
The Centre for Waste Management and the Centre of Excellence for Energy Research (Bio-Energy Division) jointly organized a one-day training programme titled “Spectral Characterization Techniques for Science & Engineering Applications: Exploring ATR FT-IR and UV–Visible Spectroscopy.” The workshop focused on enhancing participants’ understanding of spectral analysis, covering both theoretical insights and practical exposure. Students from various institutions, including SIMATS, KSR Engineering College took part in the event. The day began with lectures on the fundamentals and significance of ATR-FTIR and UV–Visible spectroscopy for material characterization. Sessions also included step-by-step guidance on data processing, plotting, and interpretation using OriginPro 8.5 software across different scientific and engineering applications.
In the hands-on session, participants gained practical experience operating the ATR-FTIR spectrophotometer and UV–Vis spectrophotometer, learning real-world data acquisition and interpretation techniques. The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates of participation to all attendees.
