Awareness Programme to highlight the importance of Domestic Waste Recycling

Centre for Waste Management, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (Deemed to be University) organized a One Day Awareness Programme to highlight the importance of Domestic Waste Recycling "Marusuzharchiye Marumalarchi" for the Women Self Help Group at Sankarapuram, Chithalapakkam on 21st July, 2015. There were around thirty participants who benefited from the Awareness Programme. The adverse impacts that household waste can bring on the Environment and Health were illustrated to the participants elaborately. Conversion of Waste Cooking Oil to soap was also demonstrated by the research fellows of the Centre for Waste Management. Student members of the Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (Deemed to be University) Eco Club and the Community Development Club were actively involved in the Programme to demonstrate the Products they made from the Waste materials. A prize winning activity also featured the programme. The participants showed keen interest and enthusiastically participated in the One Day Awareness Programme "மறுசுழற்சியே மறுமலர்ச்சி"
