Project Summary:

This project aims to uplift rural women by promoting sustainable entrepreneurship through palm leaf craft production using locally available, renewable resources. The initiative focuses on capacity building by providing hands-on training in traditional and modern palm leaf craft techniques, product design, and quality enhancement. In addition to skill development, the project emphasizes entrepreneurial competencies such as basic business management, costing, packaging, branding, and market linkages. By encouraging eco-friendly practices and value addition, the project supports income generation, self-reliance, and preservation of traditional craftsmanship, while contributing to rural development and environmental sustainability.

Objectives of the Project:

  1. To empower rural women by enhancing their skills in sustainable palm leaf craft production.
  2. To promote entrepreneurship and self-employment opportunities among women in Kumizhi village.
  3. To utilize locally available palm leaf resources for eco-friendly and value-added products.
  4. To improve income generation and economic independence of rural women.
  5. To preserve traditional palm leaf craftsmanship while introducing innovative designs and products.
  6. To provide basic training in business management, pricing, packaging, and marketing strategies.
  7. To strengthen rural livelihoods and promote sustainable community development.
